“The Ask Rayceen Show” is a free, monthly, live event hosted by Rayceen Pendarvis featuring announcer Curt Mariah and music by DJ Honey. Shows are every first Wednesday (March-November). Doors open at 6pm. All are welcome. Admission is FREE.

NEW LOCATION: Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library, 901 G St NW. The library is located ear Metro Center and Gallery Place/Chinatown Metro Stations in Downtown Washington, DC. Upon entering, walk to the back right-hand corner of the lobby and take the elevator down one floor to level “A” and then follow the signs to Auditorium A5.

CCBC with Zami: Queer Burlesque History, exploring identity through performance

Busboys and Poets' gender and sexuality series ZAMI and Chocolate City Burlesque and Cabaret (CCBC) present live burlesque performance and a discussion on the queer history of burlesque.

The evening features a queer burlesque history lesson from CCBC's historian Dainty Dandridge as well as discussion and performance by Secquerity, Fox Martin, Dainty Dandridge and more. The night will explore themes of gender identity, gender performance, the intersection of race and gender and feature stirring burlesque, boilesque and queerlesque performances.

Chocolate City Burlesque and Cabaret Brings SOUL to Summer

 

Chocolate City Burlesque and Cabaret returns to the GALA Hispanic Theatre July 24 to present Summer SOULstice.  CCBC is DC’s hottest new Burlesque troupe. CCBC features burlesque veterans such as international bad ass, Private Tails and GiGi Holliday, the chocolate that melts your heart. Summer Soulstice will feature special guest Chicava Honeychild, black burlesque historian and creative producer of New York’s Brown Girl’s Burlesque.

Summer SOULstice brings Chocolate City Burlesque and Cabaret back to the GALA Hispanic Theatre for the first time since their standing room only debut last November. Audiences can look forward to CCBC’s in demand blend of party and show, once again featuring Fox 5’s DJ Jo’Iyce spinning before during and after the show accompanied by the gogo dancing of the Chocolate City Kitties.  You’ll be so caught up in the pre show excitement you’ll forget there’s more. Chocolate City Burlesque and Cabaret is excited to have internationally touring poet Drew Anderson featured on numerous radio and TV stations including WHUR and BET emcee Summer Soulstice along with producer, Chè Monique.


Summer SOULstice highlights the talents of the CCBC cast as they display their range from classic burlesque to modern dance.  Summer SOULstice is not just a show to sit and watch, the audience is part of the fun from the intermission dance party to numerous giveaways and contests. A sold out audience showed up and showed out for the hit show SENSUALITY last year at THEARC.   For 2015 the producers at Clouds In My Coffee Theater are movin' across town to the legendary HOWARD Theatre for the red carpet premiere of SENSUALITY II.

The universal story of two women in love continues... Casey and Alex have retired and are taking a road trip to Mary's House DC*.     The journey is laced with exciting stops - Shi-Queeta Lee's Drag Emporium, Chocolate City Burlesque Palace, the Sushi Waterway and many more...   The story of two women in love continues but there is no prerequisite required to join the fun!

DC Funk Parade

THE FUNK PARADE

The Funk Parade will taking place from 5pm - 7pm and will travel from the Howard Theatre to the Lincoln Theatre.

Parade Route: Muster point in front of the Howard Theater starting around 4pm. Shortly after 5pm, the parade will travel West on T Street to Vermont Ave. The parade will turn North on Vermont Ave up to U Street. The Parade will turn West on U Street where it will end at 12th Street. Disassembling areas will happen between 12th and 13th Streets on U Street, V Street and U Street on12th and between U Street and T Street on 12th.

About: The Funk Parade is a Participatory Parade everyone is encouraged to join in. There are no floats, there are no cars, just people dancing, making music and coming together in the street. Bring your drums, tambourines, saxophones, trombones, trumpets, clarinets flutes, sousaphones, wooden spoons and kazoos and join in. Wear a silly costume or wear your best marching suit.
